MAKING AN APPLICATION FOR AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP

Australian Migration & Citizenship Services can prepare and lodge your application for Australian Citizenship. We can also attend the citizenship interview and ceremony with you to ensure that it runs smoothly. Most applications are processed in 30 days and once your application has been approved, you will need to attend a Citizenship ceremony held by your local government council. It may take up three months, depending on where you live.

Some of the documents you may need to attach to your Australian Citizenship application are:

  • Your birth certificate.
  • The passport or travel documents you had when you came to Australia.
  • Any other passports or travel documents you have.
  • Evidence of your permanent residence.
  • Proof of any changes of name.
  • Current passport sized photo.

All applicants need to attend a short interview at which Australian Immigration Department staff will check your Australian Citizenship application. They will also ask you about the responsibilities of Australian Citizenship, and check whether you can speak and understand Basic English.

Please contact our office for any additional information on how to apply for Australian citizenship.
