If you are considering retirement in Australia, now is the time!

As of 1 July 2005, the retirement visa is being abolished and will no longer be available to first time applicants.

To be eligible,

  • you or your partner must be 55 years of age or over,
     
  • have no dependents
     
  • have A$870,000 in transferable assets or A$350,000 plus an annual income of at least A$52,000 (financial threshold reduces if you have a non-dependent child in Australia who is an Australian permanent resident or citizen)

Post 1 July 2005, those who hold retirement visas and who apply for a further retirement visa will be granted a 4 year roll-over visas as opposed to the current 2 years.
